LGBTQIA+ Equality
Congresswoman Maxine Dexter knows that everyone—no matter who they are or who they love—deserves a life of dignity, safety, and full equality under the law. As a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, she is committed to advancing policies that protect civil rights and ensure equal treatment in every aspect of life.
Congresswoman Dexter helped introduce the Equality Act, landmark legislation that would explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, and more. She believes no one should be denied basic rights for being their most authentic selves.
She is also fighting to ensure LGBTQIA+ service members and veterans receive the care and respect they have earned and deserve. Congresswoman Dexter supports efforts to eliminate discriminatory policies in the military, expand access to gender affirming health care at the VA, and ensure that all veterans are treated with fairness and dignity.
