Oregonians know all too well how deadly wildfires can wreak havoc on our communities. As a lung and critical care physician, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter has seen firsthand how the climate crisis and poor air quality can detrimentally impact our health and well-being.

As Oregon moves into wildfire season, everyone must do their part to be prepared for potential emergencies. According to a June 2025 report from the National Interagency Fire Center, the Pacific Northwest is anticipated to have “above normal significant fire potential.”

Youth Advisory Council
Congresswoman Dexter's Youth Advisory Council

Congresswoman Maxine Dexter’s Youth Advisory Council will give students in Oregon’s 3rd District a seat at the table, allowing them to interact directly with their government. Students on the council will advise Congresswoman Dexter on policies that directly affect the youth of today through meaningful discussions, collaboration with experts in the field, and special policy projects. This unique opportunity will give these students insight on how a congressional office operates, and the chance to develop leadership skills.

App Challenge
Every year, middle and high school students across the country are invited to create a unique app on a platform of their choice as part of the Congressional App Challenge. This challenge highlights the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. Students of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, and 35% of challenge participants in 2022 even described themselves as coding beginners!

Art Competition

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

The competition is open to all high school students in our District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. DC Tours and Tickets
Request tickets and tours for various Washington D.C. destinations. All tickets are provided to constituents on a first-come, first-served basis so request tickets early.

Help with a Federal Agency
If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need.
Internships

Congresswoman Dexter's office is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals for her Internship Program in Washington, DC. This opportunity provides a hands-on learning experience in a congressional office on Capitol Hill.

  • Greet visitors and conduct Capitol tours.
  • Answer phone calls and draft constituent correspondence.
  • Compile daily news clips and research legislation.
  • Attend briefings and hearings.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by staff.
