Veterans History Project

Congresswoman Maxine Dexter is honored to serve on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, where she works to ensure that veterans and their families receive the benefits, dignity, and respect they have earned through their service to our nation. That is why her office is proud to partner with the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project to help preserve the stories and sacrifice of Oregon veterans for future generations.

Created by Congress in 2000, the Veterans History Project (VHP) at the Library of Congress collects, preserves and shares the firsthand recollections of U.S. military veterans who served from World War I through today's missions. VHP collects original memoirs, photographs, letters, diaries, and other historical materials. These stories deepen our understanding of military service, sacrifice, and resilience, while creating an enduring record for families, communities, researchers, and students across the country.

If you are a veteran or Gold Star Family member from Congresswoman Dexter's district interested in learning more about how to participate, or if you would like to volunteer to interview or collect materials from veterans in the district, please sign up for an info session with a staff member below, or call our office at (503) 231-2300
