Climate
The climate crisis is an existential threat. Oregonians know all too well how climate-fueled disasters—from deadly wildfires to extreme freezes—can wreak havoc on our communities. As a lung and critical care doctor, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter has seen firsthand how climate change and poor air quality impact our health and well-being. The connection is undeniable: heart disease, stroke, respiratory illness, and cancer rank among the top causes of death, and particulate air pollution dramatically worsens them all. These impacts fall hardest on Black, Brown, Indigenous, and economically-disadvantaged communities.

Congresswoman Dexter knows the federal government must take bold, immediate action. Addressing the climate crisis is an opportunity to improve public health, advance environmental justice, and create a more equitable economy for all Oregonians.
House Natural Resources Committee

Congresswoman Dexter serves on the House Natural Resources Committee, with jurisdiction over forests, public lands, national parks, oceans, energy and mineral resources, and the federal relationship with Native American Tribes throughout the United States.
Elected as Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, Congresswoman Dexter is responsible for overseeing federal agencies within the Natural Resources jurisdiction. In this capacity, she is fighting to protect Oregon’s natural resources from Trump’s polluter-first agenda.
