Internships
Congresswoman Dexter's office is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals for her Internship Program in Washington, DC and Portland, OR. This opportunity provides a hands-on learning experience in a congressional office on Capitol Hill.
Key Responsibilities: Washington, DC
- Greet visitors and conduct Capitol tours.
- Answer phone calls and draft constituent correspondence.
- Compile daily news clips and research legislation.
- Attend briefings and hearings.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by staff.
- Attend meetings with the Congresswoman.
- Office Location: 1207 Longworth Building, Washington, D.C. 20515
Key Responsibilities: Portland, OR
- Answer phone calls and draft constituent correspondence.
- Compile data and research on Oregon's 3rd Congressional District.
- Research legislation.
- Accompany staff to tours and meetings.
- Attend meetings with the Congresswoman.
- Assist wtih roundtables and town halls.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by staff.

Qualifications:
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to draft professional correspondence.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Interest in the legislative process and/or constituent services.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to interact respectfully with constituents and staff.
Additional Details Washington D.C.
- Schedule: Flexible hours to accommodate academic schedules, but generally 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students, Graduate students, and non-students.
- Pay: Financial stipend available.

- Please note: Students looking to participate in an internship with the Portland office this spring must participate in a class that allows them to receive academic credit for the experience. Contact kaitlynne.jensen2@mail.house.gov with any questions.
- Schedule: Flexible hours to accommodate academic schedules, but generally 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Number of hours in the office depends on the program you are in.
- Eligibility: Open to students from Portland State University and University of Portland.
- Pay: Unpaid, but academic credit will be received.
- Applications for the Portland, OR Spring 2026 Internship Program are due by Friday, November 28th.
