The definition of corruption

‘Corruption’ is defined by Oxford’s English Dictionary as “dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.”
First, Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi said she had files “sitting on [her] desk" detailing the crimes and accomplices of convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Then, Trump said the Epstein files were a “hoax.”
Now, Speaker Mike Johnson recessed the House until September blocking any legislative action. That includes a vote House Democrats put forward to release the Epstein files. This is just one reason why distrust in government is at a record high. It’s not justabout Epstein—as egregious as this horrific situation is. It’s about a government that the American people do not trust and one that they view as corrupt.
I believe rebuilding our democracy starts with restoring trust and accountability in our government. And I need to know:
Do you trust the government to hold powerful people accountable?
- Yes, completely
- Yes, somewhat
- No, not at all
I’m committed to earning your trust. That means standing up to corruption, demanding the truth, and holding the powerful accountable. Trust in government isn’t given. It’s earned every single day.
Be well,

Maxine Dexter, M.D.
