This is not justice
This weekend, a 37-year-old ICU nurse who served veterans at the VA was shot and killed by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents in Minneapolis. The video is horrifying and puts the unconstitutionality and cruelty of Trump’s immigration policy agenda on full display.
Like so many of you, I am devastated and furious. And I know that words alone won’t fix this. We need action.
Last week, I voted against funding DHS. As a physician, a mother, and a representative of a community that has been directly harmed by this administration’s inhumane policies, I could not give a single cent to an agency that sows fear in our neighborhoods.
I also introduced legislation to defund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and reallocate their $175 billion anti-immigrant slush fund to address our housing crisis with proven, community-first solutions.
