Stay safe. Stay engaged. Stay hopeful.

Our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people—and the people need to be safe.
Words cannot express the deep sadness I am feeling as the epidemic of gun violence continues to penetrate every corner of our country. Whether it's my children, who I’ve sent into schools and onto college campuses knowing a shooter could walk into those halls, or the halls of Congress, where they worry that political violence could impact them personally.
We need to come together and say: enough is enough. Gun violence has no place in our society. Political violence has no place in our society.
I am committed to finding real, evidence-based solutions to reduce gun violence, protect our families, and lower the temperature in our political discourse. But I can’t do this alone. Your voice matters, and your ideas are essential.
Please continue to reach out. Share your thoughts on how we can address this crisis together. You can write me or call my office at (202) 225-4811.
Stay safe. Stay engaged. Stay hopeful.
Be well,

Maxine Dexter, M.D.
