TONIGHT: Telephone Town Hall

September 30, 2025
Blog Post

I know the world can feel overwhelming, divided, and uncertain these days. I feel it too. But what gives me hope—and what grounds me every single day—is the strength of our community. And please know, I am honored to wake up every day, getting to work in Congress to strengthen our communities and help them thrive.

This week, that means two things:

1. Refusing to back down in the face of Trump’s abuse of power.

Trump said he is sending federal troops into Portland. Portland did not ask for troops— and does not want them. I strongly support Attorney General Rayfield’s lawsuit to block this unlawful deployment and will use every tool available: litigation, legislation & peaceful public pressure to protect Portland and the people who call it home.

2. Holding the line for working people and our democracy.

In government funding negotiations, I’m fighting for a bill that protects healthcare, lowers costs, and includes ironclad protections against Trump’s illegal power grabs. Meanwhile, conservatives in Congress are refusing to return to D.C. to do their jobs and make a deal.

I want to hear directly from you on both of these urgent issues.

That’s why I’m hosting a Telephone Town Hall today—Tuesday, September 30 at 5:45 p.m. PT. This is a time to come together to discuss how we protect our values and get through this moment.
