Dexter in Lockstep with AG Rayfield, Joins Amicus Brief in Support of Fight Against Trump’s Illegal Tariffs

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) announced she is joining an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit led by Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield challenging the legality of President Donald Trump’s tariffs as an overreach of the executive branch.  

"Trump’s tariffs aren’t just a tax on working families—they’re an illegal, unconstitutional overreach. I stand shoulder to shoulder with Attorney General Rayfield, fighting to protect Oregonians and our small businesses and workers from this reckless abuse of power." 

The lawsuit, led by Attorney General Rayfield and supported by 12 states, asserts that Trump’s tariffs violated the law by bypassing Congress and failing to meet the necessary legal standards for imposing such sweeping trade restrictions. Dexter’s decision to join the amicus brief highlights her commitment to defending Oregon’s economy and the rule of law.
