 PORTLAND, OR — Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03), returned from El Salvador, where she demanded answers and accountability from the Trump Administration on the illegal deportation of immigrants to El Salvador, including Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a wrongfully deported Maryland man. Despite repeated attempts, Congresswoman Dexter was denied access to see Mr. Abrego Garcia, a decision that raises even more alarm about his life, health, and well-being.

PORTLAND, OR – Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) announced that she will travel to El Salvador to demand that Trump release Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Mr. Abrego Garcia was wrongfully deported to El Salvador—a fact the Trump Administration has acknowledged. He is now being held in a foreign prison, despite a clear, unanimous ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that the federal government must facilitate his return to the U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) voted against the GOP budget blueprint. The vote comes after Dexter and Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) introduced an amendment, blocked by Republicans, to prevent cuts to Medicaid from financing tax cuts for the ultrawealthy. Senator Wyden introduced an identical amendment in the Senate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03), House Veterans Affairs Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Julia Brownley (CA-26) and Congresswoman Kelly Morrison, M.D. (MN-03) led 130 House Democrats in demanding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) protect access to reproductive health care for veterans. Dexter, one of six pro-choice physicians in Congress, spent seven years caring for veterans at the VA and serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) forced a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives requiring Republicans to defend their anti-woman, voter suppression bill, the SAVE Act. Under the guise of election integrity, the SAVE Act would penalize millions of women just for taking their spouse's last name, requiring additional documentation to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
