Three years ago, the Supreme Court handed down the extreme Dobbs v. Jackson decision, stripping away the constitutional right to an abortion in our country. The consequences have been devastating.

Cruel abortion bans. Delayed critical care. Unnecessary suffering.

As a mother, I refuse to let my daughter grow up with fewer rights than her grandmother. And as a physician, I refuse to accept that even one patient will go without the care they need.

With the increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in our communities, it is vital that you know your rights. Oregon is a sanctuary state. That means Oregon’s law prohibits state and local government, including police, from helping enforce federal immigration laws without an order signed by a judge.

Last week—in the dead of night—House Republicans passed a bill enacting the largest cut to Medicaid and food assistance in American history. House Democrats fought back, offering over 500 amendments and dragging a hearing on the legislation into the daylight.

The good news? It still has to pass the Senate and come back to the House for a vote. Now is the time to keep the pressure up.

House Republicans have unveiled the details of their budget plan that will make Americans sicker, hungrier, and poorer. Let me be clear: this budget is a betrayal of working families. It will cause millions of Americans to lose their healthcare coverage, threaten our public lands, and cut vital food assistance for our most vulnerable-all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. 

Last week, I traveled to El Salvador to demand that Trump uphold due process, the rule of law, and our constitutional rights.
